About me

 

 

Having previously worked in a corporate environment in a stressful role I am keen to bring my expertise and understanding of this area into play in my hypnosis work.   This has led to my approach being straightforward and practical as well as friendly, upbeat and warm.  I particularly enjoy teaching new tools and techniques to clients to enable them to run their lives more smoothly and relish the opportunity to empower individuals through imparting factually based knowledge.

I firmly believe that lowering anxiety or stress and taking control of thought processes can enable my clients to make great leaps forward in their lives making use of their own resources and skills which are invariably at their fingertips when they are functioning in a stress free manner.

About Hypnosis
 

Contrary to popular belief, clients undergoing hypnotherapy are not made to do weird and wonderful things whilst under hypnosis.   Hypnotherapy makes use of a naturally occurring state in a positive way and through more direct access to the unconscious a skilled hypnotherapist is able to allow a motivated client to overcome entrenched belief systems and unhelpful thought patterns.  

Although very ordinary in many ways, through making use of the human brain in a positive way people are able to affect huge changes in their lives which can add weight to the idea that hypnosis is in some way "magic".   In fact, although it might seem like a magic wand has been waved what is happening in reality through the therapy process is a streamlining of thought patterns, a lowering of stress levels and a renewed focus on goals.  

A typical hypnotherapy session will involve half of the time being spent in "talking therapy" and the other half in hypnosis.   The talking therapy is aimed at taking a more objective view of the situation to enable reason and logic to prevail and the solution focused part of our brain to reign supreme.  The hypnosis section aims to underline these new insights in a profound manner and is a powerful process because it enables a side stepping our of usual perceptions and beliefs which can through the course of our lives become skewed and therefore unhelpful.

I have included here some of the worksheets that I give to clients; they constitute part of the process I undergo with them. I have designed each of these sheets to act as pointers and as complementary to therapy with me; nonetheless you might find them useful in isolation.
